Open Doors in India and Nepal

I spoke in churches in Delhi, Kolkata, North Bengal and South Central Nepal in mid-January to end of February 2026. The purpose is to give fellowship to independent apostolic churches. As a result of this trip, 14 churches joined the AWCF.

A Recent Update

Four months since I left, on June 15, 2026, a tree fell on Pastor Jitendra's church building, destroying it. The estimated cost to rebuild is about $15,000.

Pastor Jitendra is the leader of the group of churches that joined AWCF during my recent trip.

I raised the money for the original building and have spoken in it several times, most recently in this trip in February 2026.

Family Legacy

My grandfather, Ellis Scism, and father, Harry Scism, were missionaries to India in 1949-1966
and 1953-1976 respectively. Here are some photos from those days:

My Recent Trip to India and Nepal

Dates: Mid-January to end of February 2026

Visiting the surgeon who was part of the husband-and-wife orthopedic team that operated on me after a serious head-on collision. Her dear husband has since passed, but through their skill, many prayers, and God's grace, I am alive and healthy.

Background and Ongoing Ministry

After graduating high school, I began college intending to become an attorney. Near the end of my first year, during my devotional time, I felt a clear call to ministry. I changed my major, transferred to another college, and moved to another city. After graduation came the short-term overseas assignments, then thirty years of full-time career appointment, during which I never lived in one place longer than four months. After retiring, I prayed and settled in New Hampshire. Invitations to visit and teach overseas immediately followed, and they have continued every year since.

In recent years I have traveled to India, Nepal, Bhutan, Germany, and Britain, including speaking at a conference in Britain for three consecutive years. I have friends in India and Nepal whom I have known their whole lives, and in the case of India, my whole life as well. These are people whose hearts God has deeply touched, and they will be my friends for the rest of my life.

I have more invitations than I can fulfill. If God has called you and you want to follow His will, please get in touch. You do not need to commit to two months as I do; shorter-term engagements are very worthwhile.

Travel Costs & Practical Notes for Interested Travelers  

My typical trip runs two months (mid-January to mid-March) with a budget of approximately $5,000. To help offset costs, I charge as many regular bills as possible to a travel rewards credit card (when no surcharge applies), and the accumulated points cover a portion of airline tickets and hotel costs.
